Anstie Wins Race One
In front of a nice sized crowd, defending world 250 supercross champion, Max Anstie has owned the opening 250 race, or SX2 if you like. The British riders started behind two Stark machines, but worked his way to the front, to take a nice victory.
Max Anstie: Man, those Starks were gone in the first few laps. Me and Brian go way back and we were team-mates back in the day and I know he has talent. The bike feels good, but they are tricky with the altitude here.
Stark first and second with Hsu and Hicks in the opening 250 race, with Anstie third, then Anstie passed Hicks for second place. Simonson fourth, then Peters, Connolly, Mcadoo, Thompson, Myers and Breece 10th. Hsu pulling away from Anstie as the Stark shows its power around this tight circuit.
The lead by Hsu was two seconds, but then Anstie turned it up and caught his fellow European, and Hsu now dropping back, as Simonson moved to second, with Hicks third, then Hsu, Mcadoo, Peter. Anstie wins it.
