Defending MX2 world champion, Simon Langenfelder of the Red Bull KTM factory team has won the opening moto this afternoon in Switzerland. The German started inside the top five and with riders having machine problems and crashes, the title holder eased his way into the lead and controlled the race from the front.

Simon Langenfelder: It was really tricky for sure the lapped riders, it was tricky and you need to understand if they want to let you pass, or fight you. I am happy to come out with the win.

With the win Langenfelder also regained the red plate from Camden McLellan, who had a horrible race, eventually finishing in 8th place. Second in the moto was Sasha Coenen, with Liam Everts in third. Both had moments throughout the moto, but showed enough speed to make the top three.

Championship points are now Simon Längenfelder 129 points, Camden Mc Lellan 121pts, Sacha Coenen 110pts, Guillem Farres 102pts and Liam Everts 99pts.
