Red Bull KTM factory rider, Lucas Coenen has dominated the MXGP qualification race in Spain this afternoon. The Belgian teenager took the lead early and never gave it up. Second in the race was Tom Vialle and third Maxime Renaux. With the second place, Vialle takes the red plate and the championship lead.

Lucas Coenen: I mean, a win is never easy, and I made a big mistake, but I want to improve myself and I wanted to jump in every lap. I enjoyed it, the track is technical and I am looking forward to tomorrow.

Tom Vialle: I had a great start, I am happy with that and can learn from the fast guys at front. The track is sandy, but hard base and it was nice to get a good Saturday, top three.

Maxime Renaux: I had a lot of pressure, but we still have some work to do on the bike and we look forward to tomorrow.

The big news was a big crash between Jeffrey Herlings and Kay De Wolf, that left them last and second last early. Both came through the field but no points on Saturday for the two former MX2 world champions.
