Sasha Coenen has won the MXGP of Italy with a 2-2 performance today. The dynamic Belgian had a harder day than maybe he expected, with his possible jetlag from his American trip not helping in the sweltering conditions. Second was Guillem Farres with 1-5 results. Camden McLellan was third with 7-1 scores. Ray Archer image

Sasha Coenen: I have to accept I cannot be the best on every track, but I am happy with the overall win. I didn't like the track when I got here, but its the same for everyone. I was not in my best form, but managed the win. The second moto was difficult, but overall a good weekend.

Guillem Farres: It was a tough second moto, and ruined my chances in the first lap with a stupid crash. I am a bit pissed because we had the speed to win.

Camden McLellan: Much needed second race, as I said before. Too many mistakes, but I am happy with the race win and will take this momentum and then head home for my home GP.

Championship points are now Sacha Coenen 431 points, Guillem Farres 390pts, Camden Mc Lellan 373pts, Simon Längenfelder 372pts and Liam Everts 354pts.

MX2 Moto Two

Langenfelder and Coenen first and second, with Valin in third, then Everts, Lata, Mclellan, Reisulis, Karssemakers, Walvoort and Colmer. Langenfelder a mistake and he dropped back to seventh place, as Coenen took the lead. Farres back in 14th place.

Lap three and the lead by Coenen was less than a second over Valin, with Everts and McLellan both around three seconds off the Belgians lead. McLellan into third place, as he passed Everts, and Farres up to 11th spot.

Lap seven the lead by Coenen was 1.4 seconds over Valin, with McLellan three seconds back and Everts 5.7 behind the Belgian leader. Then came Lata, Janis Reisulis, Farres, Karssemakers, Karlis Reisulis, and Langenfelder now 10th.

McLellan all over Valin for second place, with both on the back wheel of Coenen. Riders maybe suffering from the hot day and while it had cooled down and even some rain, the early temperatures from today and yesterday must have an effect on the riders. Coenen for sure after his big travel to America last weekend.

Everts suddenly also in the picture for the moto win as he climbs onto the back wheel of McLellan. A four riders battle for the moto win, and McLellan doing everything to get around Coenen. Yes, on lap 10 he passed Coenen, with Valin now trying to push Coenen to a mistake and Everts climbing all over the back wheel of Valin.

Farres into fifth spot and 20 seconds off the lead pack and his team-mate, McLellan, who leads the race is now three seconds ahead of Coenen. Langenfelder drops to 12th place as his roller coaster season continues.

On lap 13 the top ten was McLellan, Coenen, Valin, Farres, Lata, Janis Reisulis, Grau, Mikula, and Karlis Reisulis. Everts into third place. McLellan wins the moto and Coenen in second, takes the GP.
