Vialle Wins Saturday - Argentina
HRC factory rider, Tom Vialle has won the opening MXGP race of the season, with victory in the Saturday qualification race and he will take the red plate into tomorrow, here in Argentina. Second was Lucas Coenen and third Andrea Adamo. For now, the new generation of MXGP has arrived.
Tom Vialle: It is nice to be back, first qualy race I win. The track is a little sketchy and I want to thank the team for trusting in me.
Lucas Coenen: It wasn't too bad. I took a good start and tried to follow and the track is one lines and you cannot pass and the roost is bad. First race, second is good and first race you gotta be smart.
Andrea Adamo: I was feeling good started in P3 and then had a battle with Maxime and I am pretty happy and lookinf forward to tomorrow.
Vialle with the lead early, from Coenen, Adamo, Renaux, Fernadez, Herlings, Gajser and Febvre. Vialle a nice lead over Coenen and Fernandez all over Renaux with Herlings losing a little ground. Herlings down and losing places fast. The top ten was Vialle, Coenen, Adamo, Renaux, Fernandez, Gajser, Febvre, Jonass, Oliver and Guadagnini. Herlings back in 22nd.
Herlings flying and passing riders with ease as he passed Seewer for 18th place. The lead by Vialle was less than a second over Coenen and the Belgian looking very sharp. Ducati riders struggling, with Vlaanderen 11th, Bonacorsi 14th and Seewer 19th.
The Frenchman opened the lead to 1.5 seconds, with Adamo 6.3 back, and Renaux in fourth 10 seconds back. Herlings up to 15th place as he passed both Geerts and Van Doninck and still making good passes. Herlings tried passed Bonacorsi for 14th spot and get onto Pancar, who is in 13th place. Bonacorsi though in a hurry now and passed Pancar as Herlings also passed the Slovenian.
Lap six and it was Vialle, Coenen, Adamo, Renaux, Fernandez, Febvre, Gajser, Jonass, Oliver in 10th, but on a penalty and going to lose three spots. Febvre all over Fernandez for fifth spot and Gajser losing ground on those two. Febvre into fifth place.
Vialle looking very good out front, and Coenen now 1.7 seconds off the lead, with Adamo nearly 10 seconds back in third. Renaux fourth, but Febvre coming towards him. Herlings still stuck down in 14th spot, but onto Bonacorsi and with the penalty to Oliver, Herlings might get up to 12th. Gajser crashed into a back marker and dropped back to ninth position.
Top ten on lap nine was Vialle, Coenen, Adamo, Renaux, Febvre, Fernandez, Jonass, Guadagnini, Gajser and Oliver. Herlings still close to Bonacorsi in 14th, but Horgmo also close and the Dutchman could easily get both before the end.
Coenen has caught Vialle and the last two laps will see fireworks. Bonacorsi passed Horgmo and Herlings did the same, so those two in 12th and 13th, but will go to 11th and 12th with the penalty for Oliver.
Three laps to go and Coenen all over Vialle for the lead and Herlings all over Bonacorsi and Oliver. Top ten was Vialle, Coenen, Adamo, Renaux, Febvre, Fernandez, Jonass, Guadagnini, Gajser, Vlaanderen in 10th.
Vlaanderen passed Gajser, who is now 10th and Herlings a mistake and dropped a lot of time on Bonacorsi, so he will end in 13th place on the track. Vialle wins his first ever MXGP moto and Coenen gets second, with Adamo third. Big day for the former MX2 rivals.
