Mathis Valin has won the MX2 qualification race on Saturday in Italy, with the Frenchman riding the tough, dusty circuit better than anyone else. Bad starts for both Sasha Coenen and Simon Langenfelder meant they were back in the pack and had to work their way to the front, while the two Triumph men, Farres and McLellan finished second and third.

Mathis Valin: Today I wasn't having the feeling, but I had a problem on the gate, but I managed a good start and took the holeshot. I had decent laps and managed the laps, because the heat is crazy.

MX2 Qualification Race

Valin led early from Uccellini, Walvoort, Zanocz, Bennati, Mikula, Grau, Karlis Reisulis and McLellan, well back was Coenen in 13th, Farres 14th, Janis Reisulis 20th and Langenfelder 29th.

On lap three it was Valin ahead of Walvoort, Zanocz, Uccellini, Karlis Reisulis, Grau, McLellan, Coenen, Farres, Binnati in 10th. Farres into seventh and Coenen into eight. Lap five and it was Valin with a seven second lead over Walvoort, then Zanocz, Reisulis, Farres, McLellan, Grau, Coenen, Uccellini, and Janis Reisulis.

Coenen a crash and he dropped to ninth place. On lap eight it was Valin with 9.5 seconds over Farres who had moved into second place, with McLellan third, then Walvoort, Zanocz, Karlis Reisulis, Grau, Coenen, Janis Reisulis, and Karssemakers 10th. Everts 11th and Langenfelder still way back in 14th spot.

Coenen flying now as he quickly moved past a handful of riders and moved into fourth place. Lap 11 it was Valin with 8.3 over Farres, then McLellan, Coenen, Walvoort, Zanocz, Karlis Reisulis, Janis Reisulis, Everts and Karssemakers. Valin wins it.
