This weekends Cleveland supercross won't just be exciting because its a triple crown, but because the championship points are so tight. Hunter Lawrence can push to a lead that might make him the AMA 450 supercross championship very soon, but Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac can also make life difficult for the Aussie and grab that red plate.
HUNTER LAWRENCE: Regains sole possession of the red plate with his 4th win of the season and of his 450SX Class career in 32 starts (37th all-time). It was his 145th SMX League start, and he earned his 28th SMX League victory, tying Kent Howerton for 26th all-time. He ties his brother Jett in 450SX Class podiums for 41st all-time with his 12th. He has not finished outside of the top-5 in a rd. 13 or later 450SX Class round since 2022. He has finished outside of the top-10 in a rd. 13 or later 450SX Class round only twice in his 10 year 450SX Class career, and both were in his rookie season (does not include his DNS in Rd.14 of 2018).

Roczen has 4 straight podiums for the 1st time since 2023 (rds .13-16). 450 Venue Notes
HISTORY LESSON: The first and only 450SX Class round held in Cleveland, or the state of Ohio, was on May 20, 1995, at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Jeremy McGrath (Honda) scored his 9th victory of the season to clinch his 3rd straight Championship, becoming only the 2nd athlete in the history of the sport to complete this feat to that point (Bob Hannah ’77-’79). Jeff Emig (Kawasaki) & Doug Henry (Yamaha) filled out the podium.
CLEVELAND MUNICIPAL STADIUM: Opened in 1931, was host to the Cleveland Indians (MLB) & Cleveland Browns until 1993 & 1995 respectively. Their last major event was in December of 1995, only 6 months after McGrath’s title clinching victory in the stadium. Demolishment began shortly after and was completely gone in March of 1997.
CLEVELAND BROWNS STADIUM: The Cleveland Indians had already moved to a new ballpark, Progressive Field (previously Jacob’s Field) in 1994, a year before the stadiums closure. The Cleveland Browns built their namesake stadium on the same site as the previous stadium, and it opened in 1999. It has since been renamed Huntington Bank Field and will be host to the city’s 2nd 450SX Class round. Don’t get attached long term to Huntington Bank Field, as the Browns have struck a deal to pay for its demolishment as they plan to move to a new stadium in 2029.
#67: Huntington Bank Field is the only premiering track on the 2026 450SX Class schedule and is the 67th different 450SX Class venue. HBF is the 6th different venue to premier this decade: Atlanta Motor Speedway, Snapdragon Stadium, Protective Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field, & Acrisure Stadium. It will be the 789th round of 450SX Class racing.
250 Storylines
COLE DAVIES: Retains points lead after his 4th win of the season and 6th of his 250SX Class career in 16 starts. It was also his 6th podium of the season and 10th of his young 250SX Class career. With 3 rounds remaining, Davies is in a good position to give Yamaha their 20th 250SX Class Championship and 6th from the Eastern Divisional. It would also be only the 2nd time Yamaha swept both Divisionals (2021, Colt Nichols & Justin Cooper). Yamaha is also nearing Honda’s record for most 250SX Class wins in a single season of 14. At 12 right now, Yamaha would break the record if they won 3 of the last 4 rounds.
NATE THRASHER: Nails his 1st podium of the season and 12th of his 51 start 250SX Class career. It was Thrasher’s 13th career SMX League podium and 25th SMX League top-5 finish in 88 starts. He also scored his 35th 250SX Class top-10 finish.
DEVIN SIMONSON: Earns his 1st career 250SX Class or SMX League podium finish in 10 250SX Class starts and 35 SMX League starts. He hadn’t even scored a top-5 in his career beforehand. Simonson is tied with Thrasher for 6th in the point standings with 3 rounds remaining. He had impressed with a career best of 6th in Indy earlier in the Championship and is currently tied for 6th in the point standings.
NOTES: Daxton Bennick (4th): Heading towards his best point standings finish as the Husqvarna athlete actively sits 3rd in the points. He earned his 9th top-5 in 22 250SX Class starts. Seth Hammaker (5th):25th top-5 finish in 250SX Class career through 36 starts (69%), only one top-5 finish outside of the top-25 all-time. 2nd in the point standings with a 19-point deficit. Kyle Peters (17th):Made his 79th career 250SX Class start, looking to become the 6th athlete in 250SX Class history to make 80+ starts. Barry Carsten (118), Martin Davalos (101), Kyle Cunningham (92), Greg Schnell (87), & Mitchell Oldenburg (83) are the only athletes with more 250SX Class starts in their career. Landen Gordon (22nd):Made his SMX League & 250SX Class debut. He won 3 SMX Next rounds in his Amateur career.
250 Venue Notes
HISTORY LESSON: The first and only 250SX Class round held in Cleveland, or the state of Ohio, was on May 20, 1995, at Cleveland Municipal Stadium and was the Eastern Divisional finale. Honda of Troy’s Mike Brown scored the 2nd win of his season but due to missing 2 rounds earlier in the Eastern Divisional season he fell well short of the Championship, finishing runner-up to Mickael Pichon (Kawasaki). Pichon finished 4th in Cleveland but had already wrapped the title up two rounds before in Charlotte.
#59: Huntington Bank Field is the only premiering track on the 2026 250SX Class schedule and is the 59th different 250SX Class venue. HBF is the 6th different venue to premier this decade: Atlanta Motor Speedway, Snapdragon Stadium, Protective Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field, & Acrisure Stadium. It will be the 657th round of 250SX Class racing.
TRIPLE CROWN CLEVELAND: Huntington Bank Field and Cleveland will be the 11th venue/City to host a Triple Crown and this will be the 23rd Triple Crown round since its inception in 2018. It is the 1st Triple Crown premiering a venue since 2018 in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Yamaha is attempting to sweep the entire 250SX Class Triple Crown season, something that has never been done in either class.
