It sure doesn't seem like 14 years ago, but it is. The 2012 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations was when we finally saw the changing of the guard when it comes to USA and Europe.

After watching Team USA more or less dominate for 30 years, the European riders took control of the sport. In recent times its pretty equal, but from 2012 until around 2023, it was Europes turn to dominate.

France were the biggest hero's, winning six times, with Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany all enjoying some success. Team USA won just once in this period.

Of course since 2023, its been the Aussies who own world motocross and obviously those Lawrence brothers being a major part of that success. US based, but still very much Australian citizens with some euro experience.
