Langenfelder Victory in Sand

Defending MX2 world champion, Simon Langenfelder of the Red Bull KTM factory team has gone 2-1 for victory in Sardinia today and extended his championship points lead. The German champion looks solid as a rock as he kept mistakes to a minimum.

Second placed man, Sasha Coenen of the Red Bull KTM team, with 1-2 scores, was another story. A brilliant opening moto win and a big lead in the second moto, until he crashed showed his quick the Belgian teenager was, but a mistake cost him the moto win and GP victory. Third overall was Liam Everts with 3-4 scores.

Simon Langenfelder: I am really proud of myself and the team. We put some serious hours to get my bike right for the sand. I am happy with how everything is going. So nice on this bike with the bumps.

World championship points are now Simon Längenfelder 205 points, Sacha Coenen 181pts, Liam Everts 166pts, Camden Mc Lellan 162pts, Guillem Farres 153pts.

MX2 Moto Two

Coenen again the holeshot in the second MX2 moto, with Mikula second and Langenfelder third. Farres was fourth, then Grau, Zanchi, Lata, Karlis Reisulis, Janis Reisulis, Everts. Farres into third was a pass on Mikula and Grau also passed the Czech rider. Coenen with a lead of 5.4 seconds on lap one.

Coenen crashed and dropped back to ninth position and threw away the GP it seems. Langenfelder the new leader, then Farres, Mikula, Zanchi, Everts, Grau, Lata, Karlis Reisulis, Coenen and McLellan 10th. Coenen quickly into seventh place and then sixth, then passing Zanchi and Everts for fourth.

Coenen into third place on lap 5 and Everts also passed Mikula for fourth spot. Top ten on lap five was Langenfelder, Farres, Coenen, Everts, Mikula, McLellan, Karlis Reisulis, Valin, Janis Reisulis, Karssemakers in 10th.

Langenfelder held a 6.5 second lead over Farres on lap eight, with Coenen 18 seconds back, and Everts 22 seconds off the Germans lead. Then came McLellan, Reisulis, Valin, Mikula, Janis Reisulis, and Karssemakers 10th.

McLellan into second place as he passed Everts. The lead by Langenfelder on lap 14 was seven seconds, with Coenen 16 seconds back in third. Then came McLellan, Everts, Karlis Reisulis, Valin, Janis Reisulis, Mikula, and Karssemakers in 10th. Langenfelder wins the moto and the GP.
