Langenfelder Perfect With 1-1
Red Bull KTM factory rider and defending MX2 world champion, Simon Langenfelder has started the defence of his title with a victory at the opening round of the 2026 championship, held at the Bariloche circuit in Argentina.
The German champion went 1-1 with two very solid performances, from good starts and smart racing. Second overall was Guillem Farres with 3-4 results and third was the other factory Triumph rider, Camden McLellan with 6-2 scores.
Sasha Coenen, who won the Saturday qualifier finished second in the opening moto, but DNFed moto two and seemingly picked up an injury. Liam Everts scored 7-3 and Janis Reisulis went 4-6.
Simon Langenfelder: Oh yes, I wouldn't say perfect, yesterday was......those days hurt. I came back and I am so happy and the bike is working great and thanks to the KTM team to allow me to race this bike.
MX2 Moto Two
The second MX2 moto and the Reisulus brothers first and second, with Everts and Langenfelder third and fourth. Coenen back in around 10th place. Everts into the lead and its Langenfelder, Farres, Karlis Reisulis and Coenen seemingly out of the race and possibly with an injury.
Everts with a second over Reisulis, then Farres, Langenfelder, Reisulis, McLellan, Mikula, Valin, Marssemakers and Valk 10th. Lap four and the lead by Everts was three seconds over Reisulis, with Farres third and Langenfelder fourth. Then came McLellan, Janis Reisulis, Valin, Mikula, Karssemakers and Valk 10th.
Langenfelder into third as he pushed Farres off the track and that also allowed McLellan to move into fourth place, with Farres fifth. Everts lead was three seconds over Reisulis, with Langenfelder five seconds back and McLellan right onto the world champion.
Everts continued to lead into lap seven, with a 2.6 lead over Langenfelder, with Reisulis third, then McLellan, Farres, Reisulis, Valin, Karssemakers, Mikula and Valk still 10th. Langenfelder right up to Everts for the lead, as Everts suffering from sickness might be starting to fade.
Langenfelder goes to pass Everts, but the Belgian blocks that pass and remained in the lead, with McLellan right onto those two leaders. Langenfelder into the lead on lap 10 and his perfect 1-1 until now.
McLellan looking very good, but he pushed his way into second and its Langenfelder, McLellan, Everts, Farres, Reisulis, Reisulis, Valin, Karssemakers, Mikula and Valk. Langenfelder wins the moto from McLellan and Everts and Langenfelder goes 1-1 for the overall victory.
