Herlings Wins Moto One - Oss
MXGP series leader, Jeffrey Herlings of the HRC factory team has put another brilliant performance on, as the Dutchman won the opening race of the Dutch Nationals, at the former GP circuit in Oss. The five-time world champions led straight away and despite some pressure from world MXGP champion, Romain Febvre of the Kawasaki factory team, won with time in hand. Second was Febvre with Glenn Coldenhoff on his privateer Honda machine in third place.
Herlings with the lead early in the opening 450 race in Oss, with Febvre second some 1.3 seconds back, then Andrea Adamo 3.5 back and Glenn Coldenhoff 4.6 back in fourth place. Then came Roan Van De Moosdijk. Brent Van Doninck, Dae Kooiker, Robert Fobbe, Boris Blanken and Micha-Bo de Waall.
Lap two and Adamo back in 10th place after a mistake and the led by Herlings over Febvre was 1.2 seconds, with Coldenhoff now 6.3 behind in third place. A lap later and Febvre was right onto Herlings for the lead, with Coldenhoff continuing to lose ground on the front two men.
Herlings took control of the race on lap five, extending the lead to 1.2 with Coldenhoff 8.5 back and Van De Moosdijk 11.3 behind. Adamo up to ninth. Top ten was Herlings, Febvre, Coldenhoff, Van De Moosdijk, Van Doninck, Kooiker, De Waal, Knuiman, Adamo and Leerkes.
Lap seven and Herlings still couldn’t get away from Febvre, who was a little over a second behind, with Coldenhoff 10 seconds behind and Van De Moosdijk 14 seconds back in fourth place, some 10 seconds ahead of Van Doninck. Adamo up to 8th place, but 52 seconds off the leader.
Herlings made a break and on lap nine was more than three seconds ahead of Febvre, with Coldenhoff nearly 20 seconds off the leader’s pace. Herlings wins from Febvre and Coldenhoff.
