Herlings in For Monster Mountain
Round five of the Motul ACU British Motocross Championship fires into life at one of the freshest venues on the 2026 calendar, as the series drops into the spectacular setting of Monster Mountain. And just when you thought this season couldn’t get any hotter, the organisers have gone and turned it up another notch…
The all-time leader in Grand Prix wins, a rider widely regarded as one of the greatest the sport has ever seen, “The Bullet” arrives in Wales with serious momentum. Now part of the Honda HRC Petronas squad, the Dutch superstar recently reminded the world exactly what he’s about with a dominant overall victory at the MXGP of France. But titles and trophies only tell part of the story – Herlings is still driven by pure passion for racing, and that’s what makes his presence here so electrifying.
The Apico MX1 championship is already hanging in the balance. Just 12 points cover Conrad Mewse, Ben Watson and Oriol Oliver at the top, meaning every moto at Monster Mountain carries huge title implications. Throw Herlings into that equation, and this round could prove to be a defining moment in the 2026 championship fight.
Over in MX2, unpredictability is the name of the game. Five different winners from eight races tells you everything you need to know. Charlie Heyman brings the red plate into Wales on his SC Sporthomes Husqvarna, holding a solid 37-point advantage over Ben Mustoe. But Mustoe has his hands full, with defending champ Tommy Searle right there in third and ready to strike.
And don’t rule out the rest. Jamie Keith and Gyan Doensen have already shown they’ve got the pace, and with the depth in this class, anyone inside the top 12 is a genuine podium threat. Monster Mountain could easily add a couple more names to the winner’s list.
The future stars are lighting it up in RFX MX125 too. Drew Stock has been the standout performer, taking all but one race win so far and firmly controlling the championship. Rookie Harley Marczak sits second, 35 points back but comfortably clear of Joel Winstanley-Dawson in third.
But look a little further down and things get seriously tight. Just seven points separate third through sixth, with Olly Waters, Archie Stapley and Alfie Herron all locked in a fierce scrap where every position counts.
With title fights this close across every class and the added firepower of Jeffrey Herlings thrown into the mix, Monster Mountain is set to deliver one of the standout rounds of the season.
