Dutchman, Jeffrey Herlings has extended his championship points lead and taken his 120th Grand Prix victory as he marches to world title number six. Many records can be broken for the HRC rider this year, but that sixth title is something that would mean a lot to “The Bullet” and would equal the great Joel Roberts as the third most successful GP rider ever.

Despite the large points lead and GP victory, Herlings did have issues with his bike throughout the moto and wasn't happy as he talked to Lisa Leyland after his moto win.

Jeffrey Herlings: Just like yesterday, amost pushing the bike off (the track) again, very frustrating and I know the team works hard to get the problem solved, and struggling with the head and the sand The result was great, but it was difficult. Hopefully we get it sorted before Arnhem. It was a good day and all riders, bikes, this is a demanding track. Good starts, led nearly every lap and we need to be ready for Arnhem. You can see the performance of the bike in the sand, a lot of improvement.

With five rounds remaining, his championship points lead over Romain Febvre is 104 points, so nearly two GPs in command at the moment for Herlings. Febvre finished with 4-13 results, after failing to finish the second moto, but was still able to claim 13th spot on the track.

Kay De Wolf finished with 2-2 results for second overall and show he will be tough once he gets his condition back, after a long period off with injury. Tim Gajser was third with 3-4 scores.

Championship points are Jeffrey Herlings 675 points, Romain Febvre 571pts, Lucas Coenen 566pts, Tim Gajser 534pts and Andrea Adamo 450pts.

MXGP Moto Two

Herlings again with the lead in the second MXGP moto, then came Vialle, Gajser, Febvre, Gifting, Fernandez, Van De Moosdijk, Seewer, de Wolf, Renaux in 10th. Herlings opened up a three second lead very quickly and Febvre into second, with Vialle third and Gajser fourth.

Herlings lead before the end of the opening lap was four seconds, rather amazing. De Wolf into sixth place, but it will be tough getting anywhere near Herlings in this moto, after his poor start. The lead was six seconds before lap two ended and Gajser in third was 10 seconds back, with Vialle 13 seconds behind the Dutchman.

Febvre cuts the lead to six seconds on lap three, and the Frenchman had pulled well away from Gajser, who was 12 seconds back. De Wolf into fourth place with a pass on Vialle, and the top ten was Herlings, Febvre, Gajser, De Wolf, Vialle, Fernandez, Van De Moosdijk, Gifting, Adamo and Renaux.

Herlings opened the lead to nine seconds on lap four, with De Wolf 18 seconds back in third, then Gajser, Vialle, Fernandez, Van De Moosdijk, Gifting, Spies and Renaux. Adamo a crash and dropping out of the top ten. Lap five and the lead was 14 seconds.

This moto not giving a lot as Herlings has a 15 second gap over Febvre, who has a eight second lead over De Wolf, although Gajser hasn’t let De Wolf get too far away just yet. Vialle was next, then Fernandez, Van De Moosdijk, Gifting, Adamo and Spies in 10th.

Herlings not having great laps as he isn’t topping the lap charts and it seems he has problems with his clutch, something he often has problems with as he uses the clutch so often. He signalled to his pit of the problem.

Despite the problem, Herlings continued to lead by 13 seconds over Febvre, who had six seconds over de Wolf, and Gajser getting pressure from Vialle for fourth spot. Herlings not doing lap times miles faster than the other, but the gap remained similar and his lead remains handy.

Herlings goes 1-1 to win the GP and extend his already handy championship points lead. Heading to Sweden and Arnhem, the confidence must be sky high. Big crash for Febvre as he lost second place and was lucky de Wolf didnt run over his head. De Wolf second in the moto and Febvre DNFed, possibly a problem from his crash.
