Herlings and Lacapelle Marival
If ever we were looking for some favourites heading into the next round of the MXGP championship then the French GP can look no further than Trentino winner, Jeffrey Herlings and Monster Energy Yamaha rider, Maxime Renaux.
The circuit mentioned recently that Herlings has won their four times. We found three of those wins, in 2018, 2020 and 2021, however the last two races there, it’s been former MX2 world champion and local Frenchman, Maxime Renaux who has won, in 2022 and 2025.
The Circuit also mentioned that Mickael Pichon and Christophe Pourcel have also won four times at Lacapelle and that Herlings can become the King of Lacapelle with another victory on May 24.
Of course, Tom Vialle, who is running hot in the HRC factory team has also won on two occasions, in 2020 and 2021 in the MX2 class. Kay De Wolf also has an MX2 victory there in 2022.
Based on the fact Herlings feels more secure on hard pack on the Honda, than he was on his KTM, he might be showing us some serious speed when the French GP arrived on May 23 and 24.
