German GP - 10 Year Deal
In a landmark announcement at the Liqui Moly MXGP of Germany, Infront Moto Racing and the organizer of the German Grand Prix from MSC Teutschenthal have signed a contract extension that will keep the MXGP of Germany in Teutschenthal on the FIM Motocross World Championship calendar from 2028 through to 2038.
The announcement was made at the Talkessel circuit on the occasion of two historic milestones: the 60th anniversary of the MSC Teutschenthal and the 30th time the club has organised the MXGP of Germany, making this one of the most enduring partnerships in the history of the sport.
The press conference was attended by Infront Moto Racing CEO & President David Luongo, FIM Commission Director Antonio Alia, MSC Teutschenthal CEO Andreas Kobahn, and MSC Teutschenthal President Jens-Uwe Jahnke, who together announced the agreement in front of the assembled media.
David Luongo: “It’s a big pleasure for us to be back here in Teutschenthal. This year is an important year also for us as promotor, as we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of our company managing the World Championship, and it shows just how long this collaboration has been going on. I personally had one of my very first memories working in this championship right her in Teutschenthal during the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations , in 2013, and we really feel like a family when we come here. It is great news today to continue and strengthen this collaboration with a renewal of our agreement, a big renewal, for the next 10 years, from 2028 until 2038. It shows that a historical track in Europe which invests and does a great job can stay on this global calendar. The German fans always answer the call, and there is truly a motocross community in Germany. I want to thank the local authorities, the region and the city that have worked in collaboration with the organisers to improve the facility and always give the best experience for everyone involved.”
Antonio Alia: “The work that has been carried out during the past months will allow the track conditions to be better for the following races, and the programme for the following years is to keep the maintenance on the track so that Teutschenthal can remain an outstanding circuit and venue. These people working with the motoclub have motocross in their blood, they were born here, they used to play here, and this is what has made this club so big. This is a pillar in motocross. Everything in the next 10 years with the signing of this contract is going to revolve around the new generation and all the volunteers that are helping these people grow. I wish all the best for this club and I am really happy to be here.”
Andreas Kobahn: “Today we are celebrating a truly special milestone, 30 Motocross World Championship events in Germany and 60 years of motocross here at this track. For decades, the heart of German motocross has been right here. Generations of fans have turned this natural racetrack into one of the most atmospheric backdrops on the entire Motocross World Championship calendar. But today we are not just looking back, we are here to send a powerful signal for the future of our sport in Germany. The contract extension provides us with the structural security to develop the Talkessel circuit further. We have big plans to improve the facilities for riders, fans, the press and all those involved. An agreement like this is anything but a given in today’s elite sports world. It is the deserved reward for the tireless hard work of countless volunteers at this club, and the proof of the trust that Infront Moto Racing and the FIM place in our organisation. The Talkessel circuit will continue to roar, the future of German motocross is secured up to 2038 and beyond.”
Jens-Uwe Jahnke: “We are really, very happy for the next years. This contract with Infront Moto Racing and MSC Teutschenthal is a big pleasure for us. We are looking forward for the next 10 years of cooperation together. Thank you for all.”
