Garcia World Enduro Champion
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Josep Garcia has secured the 2025 FIM Enduro1 World Championship with a commanding performance at the EnduroGP of Italy. Despite a challenging Sunday in Darfo Boario Terme, where Garcia battled through the pain from a late crash on Saturday, he did what he had to do to take the title with one round to spare.
Relentless rain and rugged terrain pushed every rider to the limit in Italy, but Garcia rose to the challenge when it mattered most. He opened the weekend with a second-place finish in Friday’s Super Test, then charged through Saturday’s slick, rock-strewn course to dominate the E1 category. Clocking the fastest time on 11 of 12 tests, Garcia stormed to the class victory by over one minute and 50 seconds, while also taking the win in EnduroGP overall.
Going into Sunday, Garcia needed only a conservative ride and one single championship point to wrap up E1 but gave his all as always. However, a heavy crash on the final test of day one had left him with several injuries, making it difficult for the Spaniard to match the pace of his rivals. Never one to give up, Josep fought on, delivering remarkable test times, despite the pain, to ultimately finish fourth in class and 15th overall in EnduroGP.
With enough points banked from day one, the Spaniard did exactly what was needed of him to wrap up the Enduro1 crown in Darfo Boario Terme – capping a season of absolute dominance aboard his KTM 250 EXC-F.
With the Enduro1 title safely secured, Garcia will now turn his focus to defending his EnduroGP crown at the final race of the 2025 season – round seven, which is to be held in Zschopau, Germany, on October 17-19. Josep heads into the championship decider with a 15-point advantage over second-placed Andrea Verona and will undoubtedly give his all once again in order to secure the EnduroGP title.
Josep Garcia: “I’m really happy about the weekend, to be honest. Yesterday was an incredible day for me and I was riding super-good. Unfortunately, in the last enduro test, I had a crash, which meant I needed to get some stitches in my elbow and I injured my hip and the muscle in the leg. But I was still able to win the day. I knew today would be hard, and I still tried to give 100 percent, but another crash in the same place gave me a lot more pain for the whole day. It really was one the hardest days of racing in my life. I have really mixed emotions – obviously, I would have liked to take a better result today, but then I was able to win the Enduro1 title. We have time now to recover and then start training for the final round in Germany.”
What a weekend for GASGAS Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona! Fired up by the incredible home support in Darfo Boario Terme, the EC 450F racer delivered a performance to remember at round six of the 2025 FIM EnduroGP World Championship.
After battling to third overall and second in Enduro2 on a tricky opening day, Andrea came back stronger on Sunday to charge to a dominant double victory in EnduroGP and Enduro2.
The action kicked off in style on Friday night as Andrea attacked the Super Test and came out on top. With the crowd behind him, he steered his EC 450F to victory by just 0.06 seconds over rival Josep Garcia, bagging his second Super Test win of the season and setting the tone for the weekend ahead.
Saturday brought a tough day of racing, but Verona delivered an incredibly consistent performance. Clocking top-three times on 10 of the 12 special tests, he battled the demanding conditions to finish third overall and second in Enduro2, collecting valuable points despite a late crash that cost him a chance at the class win.
Fired up for redemption on Sunday, Andrea came out swinging. After a steady opening lap, the Italian delivered when it mattered most, claiming the lead on lap three and never letting go. Spurred on by the support of the tifosi, Verona dominated the final laps to storm clear of the pack, taking victory in EnduroGP by a massive 42 seconds and topping Enduro2 by 53 seconds. What a way to win at home!
With just one round remaining, Verona now sits second in both the EnduroGP and Enduro2 standings. He trails Josep Garcia by 15 points in the overall fight, and sits just two points shy of Zach Pichon in Enduro2, leaving everything to play for at the season finale in Zschopau, Germany, on October 17-19.
Andrea Verona: “I couldn’t be happier with how today went for me! I managed to keep mistakes to a minimum, and the conditions were kinder to us today, too. Taking the win in EnduroGP and Enduro2 feels amazing, and I’ve managed to reduce the gap to the leader in both quite a lot. Saturday wasn’t as strong, but I was able to put some good tests together and still finish on the podium. One more round to go, and I’m looking forward to it!”
