Triumph factory rider Guillem Farres continues to make progress towards the red plate man, Sasha Coenen, with victory in the Saturday qualification race at Agueda, Portugal today. Second in the moto was Coenen and third, defending MX2 champion, Simon Langenfelder.

Guillem Farres: It was a good race. The red flag I got a holeshot and I just managed it. Really looking forward to the races tomorrow. The team did a great job.

Valin led the MX2 qualifier, ahead of Janis Reisulis, Coenen, Langenfelder, Farres, Walvoort, Everts, McLellan, Mustoe and Lata 10th. Reisulis all over Valin for the lead and he took the lead on lap two, as Valin went down and stayed down for some time. Red flag, as Valin stayed on the track.

In the restart, it was Farres with the lead, the Coenen, Lata, Everts, Langenfelder, Korsbeck, McLellan, Karssemakers, Karlis Reisulis, Janis Reisulis in 10th. Lata passed by Everts and Langenfelder did the same.

Lap two it was Farres with two seconds over Coenen, then Everts, Langenfelder, McLellan, Lata, Karssemakers, Janis Reisulis, Karlis Reisulis and Mustoe 10th. Lap four and the lead was three seconds, with Everts 5.3 back, with Langenfelder on the Belgians back wheel.

Langenfelder passed Everts, then Everts repassed, before Langenfelder finally moved into third place and stayed there. The lead by Farres was still around three seconds over Coenen. Farres wins the qualifier from Coenen and Langenfelder.
