Red Bull KTM factory rider, Sasha Coenen has continued to show great improvement with being consistent as he took victory in the opening MX2 race in Trentino today. The teenagers showed a very mature side as he controlled the race from the front, both in wet and dry conditions. Second was Mathis Valin and third Guillem Farres.

With the victory, Coenen makes big progress towards defending champion Simon Langenfelder and the red plate. Championship points are now, Simon Längenfelder 224 points; Sacha Coenen 216pts, Liam Everts 190pts, Guillem Farres 182pts, Camden Mc Lellan 175pts.

Sasha Coenen: I didn't know the rain was coming, so a bit of a mess in the first laps and at the start I didn't have a good feeling, but then I find my lines and I felt good. I am happy.

MX2 Moto One

In pouring rain, Coenen with the lead in the opening MX2 moto, leading from Valin, Farres, Everts, Grau, Reisulis, Karssemakers, Zanocz, Mikula and Lata 10th. Langenfelder 12th, McLellan 14th, and Janis Reisulis 15th.

Coenen being brave out front as he controlled the lead in very slippery conditions, with 2.5 over Valin, then Farres 3.4 back and Everts 4.3 behind the leader. Lap two and Valin closed the lead a little, with Langenfelder up to 11th and trying to get to the front.

On lap three the lead remained at two seconds, with both Valin and Farres closing slightly on the leader, with Everts now 6.8 back in fourth, then Grau, Karlis Reisulis, Karssemakers, Mikula, Zanocz, Lata in 10th and Langenfelder still 11th.

A nice battling between Lata, Langenfelder, Janis Resulis and McLellan as they try and get inside the top ten. Lap six and both Valin and Farres all over the back wheel of the young Belgian. Everts now only 4.9 back and also making up ground on the front four. Grau next, then Reisulis, Mikula, Karssemakers, Lata and Zanocz in 10th. Langenfelder not getting out of 11th place.

Coenen putting in some good laps and is now a distance from Valin and Farres, with Everts getting closer to the second and third placed men. With the track drying out, Coenen must be feeling confident as the ground becomes really good for racing.

Langenfelder into ninth place and McLellan also passed Lata as the Italian drops to 11th. Top ten on lap 10 was Coenen, Valin, Farres, Everts, Karlis Reisulis, Grau, Mikula, Karssemakers, Langenfelder and McLellan.

Lap 11 and the lead by Coenen was 7.2 seconds, with Valin four seconds ahead of Farres and Everts four seconds behind Farres. Then came Karlis Reisulis, Grau, Mikula, Karssemakers, McLellan, and Langenfelder 10th. McLellan moved past Karssemakers, to move into eighth place. Coenen wins from Valin and Farres.
