As was announced last year, at the MXoN, the Australian Grand Prix will return to Darwin again next year (in the five year contract), with it being run as the final GP of the season on September 18, 19 and 20. Without doubt a huge step for the series and the sport in general.

The excitement for this event in Australia has been huge, with a large spectator attendance and the national media in Australia, not just Darwin also heavily involved.

Leading MXGP media, Pascal Haudiquert also asked about the chances of the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations being held in Australia in the near future and CEO of Infront motorsport gave his opinion below. Jorge Viegas

FIM President Jorge Viegas: It is important for the FIM, because people think sport is just in Europe, but the facility and everything around this event has been first class. We are lucky to come here and we hope this facility becomes a major stop for our sport and MXGP for many years to come. We are so happy with the support of the local government, because it is important to combine our sport with tourism.

David Luongo CEO Motorsport Infront: People ask the question, why did we come here and not to Sydney or Melbourne or one of the other cities. I will tell you, because the attention we got here, to work with the authorities to make this event happen, I knew it would be like this. With not only building the track, or the facility, but the advertising for the event, with promotion, the hotels, the availability of the people, if we needed anything, it was there. I knew from the very first moments, that this event would be organized well and like we see it has been organized as good as anything we have in the series. The result is just fantastic. If there is a time that the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations can come to Australia, this is maybe the time. We have young kids from this country and I would never say no, that it would come to here.

Ticket Sales 2026

Organisers of this weekend’s MXGP of Australia presented by Sitzler, the first to be held in the country for 24 years, this morning announced the 2026 dates as 18-20 September with limited tickets now on sale.

To celebrate the return of the event in 2026 there are 2,026 Three-Day Hot Pass tickets now available at 2025 prices until sold out. Better still, these first-release tickets will include access to the riders and their teams in the Paddock area, normally an additional cost.

Delivered by the NT Government in partnership with MXGP right-holders Infront Moto Racing and Motorcycling Australia, the event is being broadcast to more than 100 countries and a potential audience of over 700 million.

The success of the event has underscored the Territory’s reputation as Australia’s epicentre of motorsports said Tourism NT CEO Suzana Bishop.

“The passion and excitement that the MXGP of Australia has generated not just in the Territory but nationally and internationally has exceeded our expectations. Being able to announce next year’s dates so early, as well as ticket sales, means visitors will have plenty of time to plan their dream NT adventure off the track as well, from the thrill of waterfalls and wildlife in Kakadu National Park, just a few hours drive from Darwin, or taking the ultimate road trip to the Red Centre,” Ms Bishop said.

Racing continues today with white-knuckle showdowns that will see three international champions crowned in the MXGP, MX2 and WMX categories.
